RAIDFrame Plus NAS – Featuring Largest Removable Hard Drive on the Market
The “RAIDFrame Plus” NAS uses transportable RAIDPacs up to 12TB (8TB in RAID 5 mode) for your backup. RAIDPacs are the largest hard drive for backup. Each one consists of 3 hard drives and a RAID5 controller, which are removed as a unit. Use these high capacity RAIDPacs for archive, rapid restore, or in place of cloud replication. Transportable media are the fastest way to recover from disasters while overcoming the high cost of Internet connections and the inability to purchase sufficient bandwidth in some areas.
The “plus” in the product name refers to the ability of pairs of removable RAIDPacs to be mirrored (RAID 10 or RAID5+1). With mirroring turned on, neither your servers nor the backup software are aware when drives are swapped. Because the primary volume can stay connected at all times, software issues associated with removing drives are avoided. Once synched, one of each pair can be removed for offsite storage. Alternatively, configure each of the RAIDPacs as stand alone volumes and use 1 per server, 1 per day of the week, or design your own backup scenario.
The RAIDFrame Plus includes removable iSCSI support, front accessible boot drive(s), industrial grade components, a custom cooling controller, and knowledgeable U.S. based tech support. Use any popular browser to configure it. The simple menu driven interface is similar to many popular routers, allowing configuration of IP address, machine name, and other important settings.
With RAIDFrame Plus you can replace tape. You can also replace (or supplement) expensive monthly cloud strategies. The system offers SMB connections (a simple Windows share), NFS (easy Linux, Unix, Vmware share), or iSCSI (faster block level drive access that allows backup speeds of 300 Gigabytes/Hr). Ideal for customers that need rack mounted large format backup and disaster recovery.
Video Product Summary:
The 2/4 Bay RAIDFrame Plus is a backup device with up to four removable RAIDpacs. Pairs of removable Pacs can mirror to one another or they can appear as separate drives.
The RAIDFrame Plus is an Ethernet attached backup system designed with support for removable RAID arrays. Conventional network appliances have fixed internal hard drives. By contrast, the RAIDFrame Plus system has fully enclosed removable RAIDpacs for frequent media swaps. RAIDPacs are designed for daily swap, making it possible to create large transportable copies of your backup. Use your favorite software for backup and/or additional off-site (cloud) replication.
The system connects via Gigabit Ethernet (10GB optional) and supports network shares or iSCSI. By installing the included iSCSI drive management software on the machine(s) you back up, RAIDPacs can be hot-swapped like a USB drive. Inserted drives will reappear to Windows machines on the network with consistent drive letters, allowing your favorite backup software to send jobs to the removable drive without requiring user intervention or a server reboot.
Support for RAID 10 or RAID5+1 configurations provide optional mirroring of RAIDPacs. Scheduled mirroring is also supported, allowing the user to choose a point in time snapshot rather than immediately mirroring potential problems to the secondary RAIDPac. Some customers even use the RAIDFrame for softwareless backup.
We know speed is crucial for backup/restore. Using Gigabit Ethernet and our iSCSI software, the removable drive can attain 75% the speed of a locally attached SATA drive. Upgrade to 10GB Ethernet for even faster backup. A powerful Intel processor provides sufficient performance for both physical and virtual environments to restore quickly and easily.
The removable RAIDPac can be formatted NTFS (Native Windows format) or EXT4 and can even be used as stand alone drives by plugging them into a USB port.
