RAIDFrame 51

PDF brochure

Perfect for mission critical backup, the RAIDFrame 51 combines the best features of two of our most popular products, the Tandem AMT and the RAIDFrame. The RAIDFrame 51 mirrors two RAIDPacs, combining RAID 5 and RAID 1 technology. This feature can be turned off, allowing both drives to be used separately.

Each RAIDPac contains three drives in RAID5. RAIDPacs can sustain the loss of a single drive before experiencing data corruption. In the event of drive failure, the RAIDPac will beep and flash a light signalling which drive has failed. For convenience, drives may be swapped out of RAIDPacs live from the front.

Additionally, RAIDPacs can store significantly more data than a traditional hard drive (up to 9TB.)

The RAIDFrame 51™ is a 2 Bay direct attached backup solution with removable RAID 5 media (RAIDPacs) and an integrated mirroring controller. Mirroring is controlled using front panel display and buttons.

The RAIDFrame 51 has two removable RAIDPac bays. The “51″ part of the product name refers to simultaneous RAID5 and RAID1, meaning the two RAIDPacs are mirrored, providing additional data redundancy. Installing a new RAIDPac automatically initiates a remirror. Mirroring can be turned on/off so the two RAIDpacs can be used separately.

RAIDPacs are the largest removable backup media in the world, holding 9TB in RAID0 mode or 6TB in RAID5 mode. Each removable RaidPac houses 3 SATA hard drives and a RAID5 Controller that allows it to sustain single drive failures without data loss.

Since the RAID5 controller is integrated into the hardware of the RAIDPac, the removable media and each 3 drive RAIDPac shows up to the host as a single hard drive with no drivers or installation required. (Similar to plugging in a USB drive).

This system connects via a single eSATA cable providing a faster backup than tape, USB, or Ethernet connected devices. Use your choice of backup or imaging software to backup your server(s) to the unit. Keep one copy on-site and remove the other RAIDPac as needed.

RAIDPacs have an emergency Molex and USB3 connector on them that allows the data to be accessed in the field – even in the absence of the RAIDFrame.

  • Connectivity. Single eSATA 3Gbps on back of RAIDFrame 51 unit.
  • Rated for Daily Backup. Unlike inexpensive drive trays, or “bare back” designs that expose SATA connectors and drives, RAIDPacs are fully enclosed & the connector used on the RAIDFrame/RAIDPacs are designed for thousands of plug/unplug cycles.
  • 4U Rack Mount. Comes with mounting rails and ears.
  • Controllers. Simply Install a compatibile PCI or PCI-e controller in your server, connect an eSATA cable, and you’re ready to go.
  • OS Compatibility. Windows, Mac, and Linux OS versions that support removable eSATA drives.
  • File System. Windows NTFS with GPT for >2TB support is factory default. Can be reformatted/ repartioned as required to support other Operating Systems. Because drives are Directly Attached, they inherit the full NTFS permissions and compatibility with the host system and domain infrastructure.
  • Security. Each RAIDPac can be physically padlocked in place. Operating System based PKI encryption can be used on each volume to completely protect your data.
  • Power Supply. ATX style power supply for easy field upgrade/replacement.
  • Compact Cartridge. RAIDpacs measure only 9.25″ X 6″ X 3.25″ (including handle) and weigh only 5 to 9 lbs each depending on the drive types they’re equipped with.
  • No RAID driver . Because of the RAIDPac cartridge’s unique in-line controller, there is no software, drivers or any additional configuration required. Plug the RAIDFrame system into a multi-drive capable eSATA controller and you’re ready to go! Like our other popular High-Rely products, you can use the RAIDFrame system with most backup software so no training is necessary.
  • No Administration. Like our other High-Rely products, the RAIDFrame system is directly attached so it inherits the security properties of the server or workstation it is attached to. Unlike NAS units which are their own servers and often require seperate configuration and administration.
  • Fast. Redundant RAID 5 backup can write up to 400 GigaBytes per Hour in RAID 5 and faster in *RAID 0.
*Performance will vary depending on many factors within your configuration.
  • Flexible. RAID 5 (redundant protection) and *RAID 0 (speed and capacity) RAIDPac cartrdiges are available. Each RAIDPac cartridge contains three standard SATA hard drives and can be configured in *RAID 0 or RAID 5 RAID levels. RAIDPacs use standard 3.5″ SATA hard drives. Thus, our RAIDPacs allow you to expand or replace drives as needed in the future without requiring any special proprietary hard drives. RAIDPacs of different configurations and sizes can be used in the same RAIDFrame 51 simultaneously* (*JBOD).
  • Disaster Proof. Even if your entire RAIDFrame system is destroyed, each RAIDPac cartridge’s data can be accessed by any computer with industry standard power connections and SATA ports.

The RAIDFrame systems are the ultimate power house of Data Backup. With their tremendous capacity, speed and portability, nothing will stop you from retrieving your valuable data fast.
