Seagate has recently announced two new hard drives: an 8TB and 10TB.  Both are enterprise class drives and we believe that both hard drives use perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) rather than shingled magnetic recording (SMR, like Seagate’s current 8TB “Archive” drive), so the performance should be good.

We will be testing these new drives for compatibility with our equipment as soon as they become generally available.  Pricing and purchase availability will be dependent upon when they are available in consistent production quantities and costs are reasonable for customers.  This normally lags the initial release announcement by the manufacturers by many months.

If you would like to be notified when more information concerning the compatibility of the these drives is available, signup for our Newsletter.
