4-Bay RAIDFrame 4000 Backup NAS System.

The High-Rely NetSwap RAIDFrame 4000 is a rack mounted 4U computer backup NAS system that delivers up to 144TB of backup storage capacity, when using four 36TB RAIDPac Removable drives. The RAIDPacs can be easily accessed through Windows sharing, NFS sharing, or iSCSI (via Gigabit Ethernet). The RAIDFrame 4000 also includes software that replicates data to either another NetSwap unit, or to a variety of public cloud providers. Our specialized system allows administrators to save backups onto multiple modular, hot-swappable, RAIDPac Removable drives.

The 4-Bay NetSwap RAIDFrame 4000 is a server backup NAS device with up to four removable RAIDpacs. Pairs of removable Pacs can mirror to one another, or they can appear as separate drives.

  • Transportable RAIDPac media that offers the combined capacity of three drives in a RAID-0, or two drives in a RAID 1/5 mode.
  • Readily-available 12TB SATA hard disk drives in each RAIDPac Backup & Disaster Recovery module delivers up to 36TB capacity.
  • Modular RAIDPac drives are extremely durable, and conveniently accessed in the field.
  • Transportable media are the fastest way to recover from a disaster, while avoiding the reduced restoration speed, and bandwidth-intensive nature of Internet-based cloud storage.
  • The NetSwap RAIDFrame 4000 is an Ethernet attached backup appliance (10-Gigabit Ethernet optional).
  • Supports network shares, or iSCSI.
  • Using Gigabit Ethernet, and our iSCSI software, the removable drive can attain 75% the speed of a locally attached SATA drive.
  • The unit provides hardware-based AES-256 encryption for your data security, with RAID modes of 0, 1 with N-Way, 5, 6, and 10 for critical volumes.

Browser menu driven interface for managing 4 RAIDPacs.

By utilizing our browser-based management interface on the computers you back up, our network-connected RAIDPacs can be hot-swapped, like a USB drive, whether configured as Windows/NFS share, or an iSCSI device. Support for RAID 0+1 or RAID 5+1 configurations provide optional mirroring of RAIDPacs. Scheduled mirroring is also supported, allowing the user to choose a point in time snapshot rather than immediately mirroring potential problems to the secondary RAIDPac. Some customers even use the NetSwap RAIDFrame 4000 for software-less backup.

We know speed is crucial for backups and restores. We use powerful components to provide sufficient performance for quick and easy data management, and recovery.

HIghly-Removable RAIDPac Backup Drive Enclosure

High-Rely RAIDPac Backup Drive.

Data retention is very important to us, which is why we built our removable backup drives to protect archived data in a durable tray enclosure. After all, what good is removable storage if it cannot be taken off-site? With the threat of maliciously deleted files and virus infections, natural disasters, such as fire, flood, or theft – removable media becomes a professional necessity. The use of off-line Removable Media is one of the BEST ways to assure data security because if it is not connected, it cannot be hacked, deleted, infected, maliciously encrypted, or downloaded!

Our High-Rely NetSwap removable RAIDPacs provide the answer. All High-Rely warranties cover backup devices for one year. Extended dynamic support contracts are available for up to three years, with advance replacement – including shipping costs to and from our factory.

NetSwap RAIDFrame 4000 Customers:

  • Would like a Network Attached Storage (NAS), but need enterprise class hardware and the ability to carry data off-site as needed.
  • Want a mirrored copy of internal drive created automatically (two copies of all backup data).
  • Optionally want to delay, or schedule, mirroring so that the secondary RAIDPac(s) allows them to restore from a point in time.
  • Want security. Do not want users to have general storage access. (Only one administrative account has access for backup.)
  • Need fast as possible backup with support for iSCSI.
  • Want enough speed to do FULL backups, in case incremental does not work when needed.
  • Need local, fast restore instead of waiting for cloud restore.
  • Want to supplement off-site cloud backup, can only afford to off-site part of the data set, or simply do not trust data off-site.
  • Want to be able to replicate data over the Internet to another NAS. *Note: allow extra space on source hard drive for replication snapshots.
  • May need to restore virtual environments from bare metal, which is hard, or impossible to do with USB and eSATA, since the stripped down hypervisor O.S. may not provide driver support.
  • Have servers that do not support high speed (USB3 or eSATA) storage controllers, or have blade servers with no PCI-e slots.
  • Do not have the budget for an expensive SAN solution.
  • Like the idea of a U.S. company with telephone tech support for resellers, good customer service, and the option to purchase three year advance replace warranty.
  • Retain Multiple Copies of Your Data. By simply swapping a new RAIDPac in prior to your nightly backup, you can make multiple copies of your data. Transporting your media off-site insures additional protection.  Mirroring occurs at around 700-800 Gigabytes per hour, when not loaded with simultaneous backup jobs.

NetSwap Products:

All NetSwaps include an easily accessible SSD (exception being the NetSwap 200, which instead has an internal HDD), with its removable backup media, and can automatically mirror the removable drive(s). This automatic mirror technology provides better protection for modern backup software. With a second copy, there are redundant historical copies of data in case corruption creeps into the continuous incremental chain. The NetSwaps include a proprietary hardware board, called the HRIC, which adds audible and visual alerts, on top of standard email notifications; by using special Watchdog circuitry to monitor the backup system, which delivers ultimate stability.

Each NetSwap backup system features replication with all High-Rely NetSwap appliances, as well as Rsync targets. In addition, the NetSwap will replicate with popular cloud vendors, such as: Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, DreamHost DreamCloud, and Dropbox.

Includes Integrated Mirroring

NetSwaps include auto backup mirroring.

NetSwaps also features:

  • Automatic Mirroring with mirror pools.
  • Scheduled Mirroring for air gap security.
  • Advanced SpeedSeed technology.
  • Drive-to-Drive Replication.
  • DeltaSync – fast syncing on media swaps.
  • NetSwap-to-NetSwap Replication.
  • NetSwap-to-Cloud Replication.
  • Reverse Cloud backup to NAS.
  • And more…

Antiquated tape drives and RDX backup devices are easily replaced by our NetSwap computer backup system. You can also supplement or replace expensive monthly Cloud strategies with a locally-installed NetSwap solution. NetSwap offers CIFS and SMB connections (Windows shares), NFS (Linux, Unix, VMware Virtualization shares), or iSCSI (faster block level drive access).

Use any modern web browser to configure any NetSwap (including the RAIDFrame 4000), then use any Remote Management and Monitoring tool, such as Labtech, to monitor the unit. Our simple menu driven interface is similar to those used on consumer routers, making it simple to configure the IP address, machine name, and other basic settings. Multiple RAIDFrames and NetSwaps may be conveniently monitored, and managed.

The removable drive and data drive can be formatted NTFS (Native Windows format), or EXT4, and will plug into our direct attached (USB3 or ESATA) line of storage products. Use your favorite software for backup and/or additional off-site (cloud) management.

  • Simple Bare Metal Virtual Machine Restore. Having a NetSwap unit provides backup storage that can be accessed using Windows Networking, NFS networking, or iSCSI. Hypervisor environments that will not easily recognize USB or eSATA quickly attach via Gigabit ethernet.
  • Interchangeable Media. You can plug your media into our conventional Direct Attached Storage products (USB2, USB3, or eSATA connected). This gives you unprecedented ability to verify and restore your backups elsewhere.
  • High Capacity. Currently up to 12TB of raw storage per drive (higher if compressed).
  • No Drivers Required. Access the NetSwap via conventional UNC path (Windows Networking), by connecting via iSCSI, or NFS via Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.
  • Free iSCSI and Drive Management Software Available. Our software assists you in safely removing network attached drives, as well as making sure that drive letters stay consistent so that backup jobs run reliably.

Important Note:  In replication environments where files will be open and changing 24×7, the High-Rely “snapshot” feature can be used to track active file changes, providing integrity for the replication offsite.   When using this snapshot feature the worst case scenario would require having twice the space on the sending side of replication job as is required for your full data set.  For example, a very actively changing 1TB data set might require up to a 2TB drive on the sending side of the replication to allow room for the snapshot. While doubling space is overly conservative in most cases, it should be considered in drive size planning.
